The World Bank Group in Liberia invited Campaigners Against Misinformation and Disinformation in Liberia (CAMDL) Executive Director, Taweh Johnson, to participate virtually in the High-Level Regional Summit on Digital Transformation in West and Central Africa held November 17–18 in Cotonou, Benin. The summit was co-organized by the Government of the Republic of Benin and the World Bank Group.

CAMDL Executive Director, Taweh Johnson, along with a tech leader and a representative of a civil society organization in Liberia, participated online from the World Bank Group Office in Liberia during the lightning talk on “Harnessing the Potential of AI in Africa” and the roundtable on “Developing the Necessary AI Capabilities in West and Central Africa.”
The Digital Summit served as a platform to assess progress, share best practices, and mobilize public and private sector commitments to accelerate digital transformation and foster AI readiness across Western and Central Africa. It brought together high-level stakeholders, young academics, tech entrepreneurs, and startup leaders to explore how digitalization can drive economic transformation and create the jobs of the future.

CAMDL Executive Director, Taweh Johnson, appreciated the World Bank Group in Liberia for the precious opportunity. Campaigners Against Misinformation and Disinformation in Liberia (CAMDL) acknowledges how artificial intelligence can increase productivity and efficiency in both private and public sectors, enabling the workforce to focus on other essential tasks, not repetitive tasks. However, generative artificial intelligence is incredibly accelerating the spread of false information in Liberia. CAMDL is willing to collaborate with the World Bank Group in Liberia, the Liberian government, and other technology companies to develop customized AI applications that can detect false online information and verify information.
