In order to prevent the spread of Misinformation and Disinformation regarding the 2023 Biometric Voter Registration, Campaigners against misinfo and disinfo in Liberia in partnership with Cruse Media Concepts produced a short video presentation for the Deaf and hard-of-hearing in Liberia. The launch of the video presentation in Bomi County brought together over fifty(50) participants at the Oscar Romero School for the Deaf.
After the launch, we came to Monrovia and did a presentation at the National Commission on Disabilities. This presentation brought together over sixty(60) persons with disabilities. Campaigners against misinfo and disinfo decided not to sit back but to help the Deaf and hard-of-hearing obtain their Voter’s ID Cards in no time. Here is the link to the video:
According to the Executive Director of Campaigners against misinfo and disinfo in Liberia, Taweh Johnson the video presentation has been uploaded on social Media and shared in people with disabilities chat rooms. This initiative was intended to encourage persons with disabilities to turn out and register. Due to limited financial and logistical support, the organization visited two centers in Montserrado: Greater Works Academy School Registration Center in Chugbor, Old Road, and the Tubman High School Registration Center on 12th Street. We also traveled to Bomi County and visited John L. Parvola Registration Center. Our organization has been able to fast track the voter registration of over twenty-five (25) persons in the two counties. According to the Executive Director of Campaigners against misinfo and disinfo in Liberia, Taweh Johnson, this initiative was intended to encourage persons with disabilities particularly the Deaf and hard-of-hearing to turnout and register.
According to many participants, as a result of this initiative, they no longer have to stand in long queue to get registered. They thanked Campaigners against misinfo and disinfo in Liberia for such an awesome initiative. The organization is in the fight against misinformation and disinformation in Liberia.
