Campaigners Against Misinformation and Disinformation, a local non-profit improving community resilience to false information in Liberia, conducted a Misinfo and Disinfo Awareness Campaign at the Peace Park in Bentol City, Bensonville, Rural Montserrado County at the weekend.

False information can drive away potential investors from coming to Liberia. Besides, false information causes citizens to make wrong decisions. Furthermore, false information can lead to war, violence, and unrest in Liberia.

According to CAMDL Executive Director, Taweh Johnson, the Organization visited Bentol City in Bensonville and enlightened citizens on the danger of false information in Liberia and steps to verify online and offline information before sharing it. Taweh Johnson appealed to international partners to kindly provide logistical support to the organization to extend the Misinfo and Disinfo Awareness Campaign to other parts of Rural Montserrado and other
counties.

Over 30 Residents of Bentol City were in attendance. The residents commended CAMDL for the laudable initiative and appealed to the organization to extend such initiative to other parts of Rural Montserrado such as Harrisburg, Crozierville, and others.

CAMDL launched the Misinfo and Disinfo Awareness Campaign in May 2024 and this campaign has been taken to nine Intellectual Centers and seven universities in Montserrado impacting over 500 Liberians.

The organization’s vision is to make citizens responsible promoters of reliable and credible information in Liberia.
