Rain Couldn’t Stop the Conversation — Montserrado Showed Up!
Despite the heavy downpour of rain, we had a full house for the Montserrado County Consultation on the Disability Bill, with 23 participants demonstrating their commitment to helping shape a stronger and more inclusive legal framework for persons with disabilities in Liberia.
The consultation brought together representatives from the Ministry of Justice (MOJ), Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), civil society organizations (CSOs), the media, representatives from the Monrovia City Corporation, the Liberian Muslim council, and other key stakeholders.
Participants engaged in discussions on the proposed Disability Bill, sharing their experiences, perspectives, and recommendations to help ensure that the legislation responds to the realities and priorities of persons with disabilities.
Campaigners Against Misinformation and Disinformation in Liberia (CAMDL) is grateful for the opportunity to coordinate these consultations and remain committed to ensuring that they are well-coordinated, inclusive, and meaningful for all stakeholders involved.
The turnout, even amid challenging weather conditions, was a powerful demonstration of the importance stakeholders attach to this process. Every contribution brings us closer to legislation shaped not only for persons with disabilities, but most especially with their participation.
From Bomi to Bong and now Montserrado, the conversation continues, and every consultation adds another layer of voices to the national process.
