The National Commission on Disabilities (NCD) and the Alliance on Disabilities in Liberia, with support from world hope international and AIFO Liberia, today successfully convened the Western Regional Cluster Consultation on the Disability Bill in Bomi County.
Campaigners Against Misinformation and Disinformation in Liberia(CAMDL) is a member of the Alliance on Disability in Liberia. CAMDL is pleased to serve on the coordination team for the regional consultations and high-level national stakeholder validation.
The consultation brought together 29 participants representing Bomi, Grand Cape Mount, and Gbarpolu Counties. Participants included NCD County Coordinators, representatives of the Superintendents of all three counties, the Ministry of Education, LNAD, BIDO, NUOD, G77, CAB, MOH, civil society organizations, a representative from Radio Bomi, religious leaders, and other key stakeholders.
The diversity of voices represented at the consultation reinforces an important principle: legislation concerning persons with disabilities must be informed by the people and communities it is intended to serve.
The session created an important platform for stakeholders to review and discuss the proposed Disability Bill and provide recommendations based on their experiences and the realities of persons with disabilities within their respective counties.

This marks an important step in the broader consultation process as we work toward a stronger, rights-based Disability Bill that reflects the voices and aspirations of persons with disabilities across Liberia.
